The Trainer is primarily responsible for the training delivery (virtual / in-person) to new and existing operational employees. They assist with the design, development, and the organization of the various training content. They conduct needs assessments to understand the requirements of the learner and monitor progress from training delivery through testing and evaluation and share results with leaders to ensure training measurement and success. They foster an interactive and creative approach to the facilitation of training by using a blended learning methodology (i.e. virtual instructor-led training, self-directed e-learning modules, interactive case studies, knowledge-based assessments, simulations, "hands on" production work and more).

Deliver end-user training

  • Deliver end-user virtual training for Operations teams through various learning instructional methods (eLearning, instructor-led, collaborative, blended) primarily from a virtual platform (in-person will be limited).
  • Apply the principles of adult learning and adult learner styles to be able to adapt to each learner's needs.
  • Provide support for learners during and after training to reinforce desired learning outcomes.
  • Ensure the engagement of participants during learning sessions, fostering respect and creating an environment that is conducive to learning.

Provide curriculum design input

  • Validate course design (content, flow and style). Test new learning modules (e-learnings, assessments, exercises) and provide feedback.
  • Support the Training Modernization project that includes negotiating timelines, defining project goals and ensuring deadlines and service standards are met.

Manage training measurements

  • Schedule and evaluate various LMS knowledge assessments and adapt the training delivery as needed.
  • Evaluate the "hands on" skills through live observation and session recordings.
  • Regularly generate and publish key LMS training reports.
  • Foster stakeholder support and collaboration.
  • Evaluate the training needs by interviewing staff and management to complete a training needs analysis.
  • Provide Leaders with scheduled Learner progress reports including scores, observed behaviour and recommendations.
  • Ensure the Learner access profile is complete and active prior to the Day 1 onboarding.

Innovation

  • The Trainer pilots the newly modernized curriculum and provides input / recommendations for continuous improvement (enhanced service: reduced time to competency, more confident & knowledgeable Learners).
  • The Trainer works in close collaboration with the Quality Control Analysts, Business Analysts Technical Writers and Operational Specialists to ensure Quality training (curriculum is updated with the most recent operating procedures, business processes and product details).

Working Conditions

  • Dealing with ambiguity (moving dates / customized training)
  • Capacity to maintain focus, mental acuity and energy levels for an extended period of time
  • Technical aptitude (quickly troubleshoot / find solutions) PREFERRED

Education

  • College diploma or equivalent in a related field
  • Bachelor's degree / background in training and/or leadership

Experience

  • 1 to 3 years of relevant training and facilitation experience through classroom, on-line, virtual and web-based methodologies
  • Work experience and/or knowledge of Medavie business processes would be considered a strong asset
  • Experience in Customer Service and Claims
  • Certificate in Adult Learning and/or Instructional Delivery Principles

Knowledge and Skills

  • Knowledge of and practical application of adult learning and instructional delivery principles
  • Easily gains trust and support of peers, encourages collaboration and is composed. Seeks and is receptive to feedback and enjoys working with people both as part of a team and one-on-one
  • Excellent time management skills, establishes and manage priorities and effectively copes with change
  • Excellent presentation and facilitation skills, adept at explaining concepts and giving directions
  • Life- long learner: Medavie Claims and Administration systems, products, processes and the Learning industry's best practices
  • Training in process improvement or Six Sigma methodology is an asset
  • Experience using LMS (Learning Management System) and e-Learning software such as Adobe Captivate is an asset
  • Bilingualism in both official languages is considered an asset for this position
