Not only is the department responsible for managing over 18,000 kilometers of provincial highways, it also manages the planning, design and construction of hospitals, schools and other government buildings.

The Radio Communications Branch is responsible for the provision of Radio Communications and other advanced technological services for all government departments and agencies. The Branch provides contract management of the New Brunswick Trunked Mobile Radio (NBTMR) system, the province's P25 Digital Public Safety Grade Radio System. The NBTMR provides mission critical services to various Provincial, Federal, and Municipal stakeholders.

What you will do

Reporting to the Client Services Supervisor, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following responsibilities:

  • installing, maintaining, operating and repairing the Integrated Radio Communications System (IRCS) Equipment, New Brunswick Trunked Mobile (NBTMR) radios and associated accessories and equipment, VHF/UHF mobile and base station radios, radio towers, antennae, power supplies, alarm equipment, GPS/AVL devices and peripheries, Starlink satellite devices and accessoires and other related electronic equipment.

Work environment:

  • Office location: Fredericton Area.
  • Standard hours of work: Monday - Friday.
  • Operational requirements may also require working on weekends and/or variable hours.
  • Frequent travel within the province will be required.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Graduation from high school or GED, and the successful completion of an approved course in electronic technology.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience in the maintenance, installation, and repair of mobile radio communication equipment.
  • You will be required to undergo a Criminal Background Check.
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license as issued by the Province of New Brunswick.

An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.

Written and spoken competence in English is required. Please state your language capability.

SALARY:
Radio Technician II: $28.84 per hour, based on a 40- hour week.
