Job Summary
Reporting to the Regional Manager Biomedical Engineering, Accommodations and Leasing Eastern, the Electronics Technologist is responsible for installing, repairing and maintaining a variety of electronic equipment such as communication, industrial instrumentation and central processing equipment, assembling analog and digital communication systems, and understanding the concepts of fabrication. If an electronic system is malfunctioning, the Technician must troubleshoot the system and repair it to a safe and working order. In addition, the position provides training on specialized equipment and completes related safety and maintenance reports.

Lifting or moving objects less than 10 lbs is a constant requirement and lifting/moving objects is required occasionally.
Manual or physical activities include fine finger or precision work, using hand tools, using gross motor skills to move heavy objects, operating equipment or machinery that requires very controlled movement and maintaining physical balance.
Troubleshooting and repair of mechanical systems and sub-systems.
Surgical Instrumentation restoration and repair.
Assemble and configure industrial instrumentation.
Occasional requirement to work in awkward or cramped positions or body movement when performing equipment repairs.
Higher than normal levels of attentiveness or alertness for the health and safety of others is required.
Job Qualifications
Graduation with a minimum three-year Canadian Technology Accreditation Board (CTAB) program in Electronics Engineering Technology with a focus in analog and digital communication systems, computer design, programming, configuration and networking, computer aided design and industrial instrumentation and process controls is required.
Knowledge of basic electrical, electronics and computers.
Experience in AV and/or technical systems installation, including wire pulls, mounting of racks, video displays, loudspeakers, video projectors, video screens and related equipment is an asset.
Wiring infrastructure (equipment racks, etc) installation and hookup is an asset.
Experience in new construction installations and commercial/institutional/industrial installations is an asset.
Ability to apply appropriate troubleshooting techniques to electronic circuits or systems and generate/perform test procedures.
Ability to read and interpret electronic schematics.
Ability to diagnose faults and repair electronic equipment.
Troubleshooting and repair of mechanical systems and sub-systems.
Surgical Instrumentation restoration and repair.
Assemble and configure industrial instrumentation.
Demonstrated time management skills and the ability to prioritize.
Demonstrated problem solving skills.
A valid class V driver's license is required.
A satisfactory record of work performance is required.
