The Maritime Link transmits energy between the island of Newfoundland to Nova Scotia. The opportunity:

We are currently looking for a Manager, Regulatory and Compliance to join our Emera Newfoundland and Labrador Regulatory team. Reporting to the General Counsel & VP, Business Development, the Manager will be responsible for collaborating with members of ENL to ensure assigned regulatory initiatives are completed accurately and on time.

Accountabilities:

  • Lead Nova Scotia Utility and Review Board document submissions, collaborating with team members to compile applicable filing information, contributing to strategic considerations and drafting of submissions.
  • Provide regulatory guidance and direction, ensuring that contents of filings meet the regulator's requirements.
  • Manage and oversee overall compliance with legal obligations.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports, presentations, and recommendations for senior management and regulatory authorities.
  • Conduct ad-hoc analyses and respond to data requests from stakeholders within specified timelines.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in law, engineering or business (economics, finance, commerce) or equivalent experience is required in this role.
  • Minimum 5 years' relevant experience: suitable experience could come from a combination of different areas including regulatory compliance, legal, policy development, engineering or regulatory finance.
  • Ability to manage multiple, complex, long-term projects with flexibility to achieve outcomes within strict timeframes is vital to this position.
  • Possesses a track record in fostering effective working relationships with colleagues and external contacts to achieve company priorities.
  • Exceptional writing, planning, organizational and analytical skills.
  • Strong oral communication skills, including the ability to articulate complex concepts to senior leaders and leadership objectives to project teams.
