Site Description: The Labrador Health Centre is located in Happy Valley-Goose Bay. The hospital has 25 beds, a 24-hour Emergency Department and Outpatient Clinics, staffed by Family Physicians. An education agreement with Memorial University of Newfoundland trains Family Practice Residents with faculty members on site. Each Family Physician is also responsible for the medical care of a North Coast community. Specialists include a General Surgeon, an Anesthetist and an Obstetrician/Gynecologist. There are a number of visiting specialists who provide services at the Labrador Health Centre on a regular basis. Position Details:

Key responsibilities:

• Patrol Hospital Grounds: Conduct regular rounds of hospital premises, including parking areas, hallways, patient rooms, entrances, and exits, to ensure the safety and security of the site.
• Monitor Surveillance Systems: Operate security cameras and alarm systems, ensuring any suspicious activity is reported immediately to the appropriate authorities.
• Access Control: Monitor and control entry points to the hospital, ensuring that only authorized individuals are allowed access to restricted areas.
• Respond to Emergencies: Act quickly in emergency situations, such as medical emergencies, fire alarms, or security threats. Assist hospital staff as needed during crises and evacuations.
• Provide Customer Service: Greet and assist visitors, patients, and hospital staff. Provide directions and ensure that guests adhere to hospital policies and procedures.
• Conflict Resolution: De-escalate tense situations, resolve conflicts, and ensure that all interactions are handled calmly and professionally.
• Report Writing: Document daily activities, incidents, or accidents accurately. Complete reports on incidents, breaches, and security concerns.
• Collaboration with Hospital Staff: Work closely with hospital staff and local law enforcement to provide a coordinated security effort and ensure the safety of all parties involved.
• Enforce Hospital Policies: Ensure that hospital policies, including visitor and patient protocols, are followed. Address any violations in a manner that upholds hospital safety standards

Prerequisites:

• Clear criminal background check vulnerable sector check
• Valid First Aid & CPR - Level C (from a CSA-approved vendor)
• Tuberculosis (TB) Screening: All healthcare workers must undergo assessment for tuberculosis.
• Vaccination Documentation: Proof of completion of the full series of childhood/primary vaccinations is required.
• Tdap Vaccine: One dose of Tetanus, Diphtheria, and Acellular Pertussis (Tdap) vaccine is required upon reaching 18 years of age.
• Booster Requirement: A booster dose of tetanus toxoid-reduced diphtheria toxoid (Tdap) is required every 10 years
• Covid Vaccine two doses
• Immunization records for Mumps, Measles, Rubella, Varicella and two step TB skin test
• Valid class 5 Driver License
• English (oral and written) fluency is a must
• Previous experience in security, law enforcement, or a related field preferred.
• Must be able to provide certifications in Use of Force (UOF) and Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB)
