Job Summary
This position is accountable for managing the Surgical Services program, as well as Pediatric, Obstetrical and Gynecological units at the Carbonear General Hospital.
The Division Manager directs staff within areas of accountability; encourages professional development activities; completes regular performance evaluations; participates in the recruitment process and ensures fair and consistent application of the collective agreement. The position establishes staffing requirements and monitors and interprets staff utilization statistics. The position establishes performance expectations through feedback and guidance for the department and individual employees. The Division Manager is responsible for planning, developing, implementing and evaluating key directions, objectives, and strategies, quality and risk initiatives, and safety initiatives for patients and staff in a dynamic environment.
The Manager will work within the Leadership Framework with accountabilities to engage others and lead self, achieve results, develop coalitions and implement systems transformation within the assigned areas of responsibility. These include working within the Divisions? lines of business, fiscal and resource stewardship, managing and developing staff, effective communication, quality and risk management and health workplace management.
Job Qualifications
Education
Baccalaureate Degree in a health-related discipline is required.
Master's Degree is preferred.
Experience
A minimum of five years of acute care experience within the last seven is required.
Previous management experience is required.
Acute care experience in Surgical Services, Pediatrics, Obstetrics or Gynecology would be an asset.
