Reporting to the Dean, Student Affairs, the CEL Program Manager is responsible for maintaining, enhancing, and growing the operational and logistical excellence associated with programs, events, and activities within the CEL portfolio which prepares NSCAD University (NSCAD) students for careers in art, design, craft, media, and related fields. The CEL Program Manager plans and activates the processes, methods and resources required to effectively collaborate with employment partners, subject-matter experts, faculty members, campus colleagues, students/alumni, and works with the Dean, Student Affairs to meet reporting needs and appropriately positioning CEL based on provincial government bi-lateral obligations.
- In conjunction with the Dean, Student Affairs, lead and implement annual and long-range operational plans and departmental goals which support the University's academic and strategic plans.
- Implement all CEL activities including webinars, workshops, programs (eg. Art Factory, The King's Trust Canada)., markets, and other events
- Lead the promotion, recruitment, and registration of all CEL activities and events in consultation with the Director of Strategic Communications.
- Responsible for the set-up, organization, and administration of the mentorship program in consultation with the Director of Advancement.
- Oversee allocation of CEL resources, including, in consultation with the Dean, Student Affairs, managing all program budgets.
- Manage key aspects of the delivery of career development, experiential learning, creative entrepreneurship, community animation and student gallery system activities, providing direction and feedback to staff.
- Develop and manage relationships with a variety of external stakeholders in support of CEL programs and services.
- Develop and implement methods to assess the impact of current programs and services, including detailed performance metrics.
- Tracking, monitoring, and reporting associated with funded programs.
- Manage special initiatives, as developed in conjunction with the Dean, Student Affairs, and Vice-President (Academic and Research)
- Maintain current knowledge of service excellence within student affairs and higher education through active participation in relevant professional associations and conferences.
- Serve on University committees as needed.
- Support the Dean, Student Affairs in other related duties that contribute to the successful operation and growth of the CEL.
A Bachelors degree in a related discipline is required. A masters degree would be an considered an asset. A minimum of three years of related professional experience with demonstrated leadership experience is required. An equivalent combination of skills and expereince may be considered. Expereince in a educational environment would be considered an asset.Proven interpersonal leadership and project management skills, including conflict resolution and performance management are required. Experience in hiring, training, and retaining staff, particularly in a hybrid work context is required. Experience with budget oversight and financial controls is required.
