The Opportunity
We are currently seeking a Senior Manager, Project Estimating and Valuation to join our Project Controls Team.
This is a permanent position.
As the Senior Manager, Project Estimating and Valuation, you will be responsible for cost estimates and economic valuations for Project Studies in Canada, Brazil, and Indonesia, with a total CapEx estimate of around USD 15 billion. The team under your coordination will not only execute the work, but also define the company`s guidelines, methodology, systems, and database for these disciplines, with multiple interfaces within the company.
Specifically, in this position you will:
- Define and implement global estimating standards, tools, and procedures across all project phases and locations (PEA to Execution, in Brazil, Canada and Indonesia).
- Lead the development of CapEx and OpEx estimates for major projects in Canada, Brazil, and Indonesia.
- Provide oversight and mentorship to regional estimating leads, teams and external partners.
- Identify and capture optimization opportunities to meet CapEx reduction targets and hurdle rates.
- Ensure VBM projects are developed and executed using market benchmarking and competitive engineering and CapEx indicators.
- Implement a standard estimating too and database within the company, guaranteeing the proper benchmarking and use of digital resources.
- Coordinate the project economic valuation during development stages, aiming to maximize the portfolio return and therefore the company`s results.
- Lead and mentor a highly qualified multicultural team, creating a healthy environment fully aligned with Vale Base Metal`s values
About You
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (Master's preferred).
- Specialization and/or certifications in Project Management: PMI (PMP, PfMP, PMOCP or RMP) or AACE (CCP, CEP, EVP, PSP or PRMP) are a differential.
Experience:
- Minimum 15+ years of experience in capital project estimating, with at least 5 years in a global leadership role.
- Proven track record managing estimating for portfolios exceeding USD 5 billion, ideally in mining, energy, infrastructure, or industrial sectors.
Skills:
- Strong understanding of estimating tools (e.g., Cleopatra, Aspen Capital Cost Estimator, Prism, etc.) and methodologies (Class 5 to Class 1 estimates).
- Experience working across multiple continents and cultures.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to challenge and influence at executive levels.
- Results oriented mindset.
- Fluency in English.
- Fluency in Portuguese is desirable.
- Flexibility for domestic and international travel.
