Pharmacy Technician (Delegated Functions) (1100)

SCHEDULE: Day, Weekend, Rotation, 8 and 12-hour shifts. Work schedule may be changed to meet operational needs.

LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS: Bilingual essential

JOB SUMMARY:

Under the authority of the Zone 4 Pharmacy Services Manager, the Pharmacy Technician ensures the operation of the pharmacy department autonomously, without an on-site pharmacist. The technician obtains, prepares and distributes drugs and pharmaceutical products, verifies the accuracy of drugs prepared by others, meets with patients to gather information about their medications and gives them instructions.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Registered as a pharmacy technician with the New Brunswick College of Pharmacists and licensed to practise in New Brunswick;
• One year previous experience as a pharmacy assistant technician in a hospital setting;
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
• Physical ability to perform assigned work;
• Good work history (performance and attendance);
• Adherence to professional ethics principles, the Network's management philosophy and organizational values;
• Adherence to Vitalité Health Network's confidentiality rules.

1. The successful candidate may be called upon to work in other facilities in the zone.
