Salary Range: $95,029 - $118,786

YOUR OPPORTUNITY
The Oromocto Fire Department seeks a dedicated, experienced, and dynamic leader to join our management team as an Assistant Deputy Fire Chief. This senior role oversees divisional operations, fire prevention, inspections and investigations, training, and strategic planning and policy development. The successful candidate will also serve as a Senior On-call Officer rotating and act for the Deputy Chief as required.
This position requires strong leadership, sound judgment, and working effectively with staff, municipal officials, partner agencies, and the public. A high level of professionalism, integrity, and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities in a high-paced environment is essential.

WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Lead fire prevention programs, inspections, investigations, and public education.
- Supervise staff during emergency and non-emergency operations.
- Maintain and enhance department records management systems.
- Provide operational and policy advice to the Fire Chief.
- Assist in budget preparation and monitoring.
- Coordinate internal training and oversee staff development.
- Represent the department on various committees and inter-agency initiatives.
- Respond to emergencies as a Chief Officer and assume command as required.
- Serve in an on-call rotation for 24/7 coverage.
WHAT YOU'LL BRING
Required:
- Minimum 15 years of experience in the fire service with proven supervisory experience.
- NFPA 1001 Levels I & II (or equivalent).
- NFPA 1021 Level III; Instructor I; Medical First Responder.
- Valid Class 3E Driver's License.
- Demonstrated leadership, communication, and conflict resolution skills.
- Strong knowledge of OH&S and WorkSafe NB regulations.
- Experience in unionized environments and working with diverse teams.
- A strong, demonstrated track record of delivering training and developing personnel.
- Innovative and current knowledge of fire service techniques, tools, and best practices.
Preferred:
- NFPA 1031, 1033, 1041 Level II; Fire Officer I (or a willingness to complete if not yet trained).
- Fire Science, Emergency Management, or Public Administration education.
- Experience in a composite department, and technical rescue operations.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
- Permanent, full-time, Monday-Friday, with after-hours and emergency callout requirements.
- Must reside within Oromocto town limits (per Town Policy #4-85 Level 1A).
- Satisfactory vulnerable sector check and driver's abstract.
