Site Description:
The Central Newfoundland Regional Health Center, with about 130 acute care beds, is a secondary care facility serving the western part of the region. The facility offers a number of specialty services including anesthesia, general internal medicine, general surgery, neurology, obstetrics/gynecology, ophthalmology, pediatrics, pathology, psychiatry, urology, radiology, otolaryngology and dermatology. There are 45-55 full-time physicians, general practice and specialists providing services in Grand Falls-Windsor. In addition to 24-hour on-site emergency physician coverage, this center provides advanced diagnostic imaging, laboratory and other investigative services.

Payrate: $ 19.67/hour

Key responsibilities:
- Patrol Hospital Grounds: Conduct regular rounds of hospital premises, including parking areas, hallways, patient rooms, entrances, and exits, to ensure the safety and security of the site.
- Monitor Surveillance Systems: Operate security cameras and alarm systems, ensuring any suspicious activity is reported immediately to the appropriate authorities.
- Access Control: Monitor and control entry points to the hospital, ensuring that only authorized individuals are allowed access to restricted areas.
- Respond to Emergencies: Act quickly in emergency situations, such as medical emergencies, fire alarms, or security threats. Assist hospital staff as needed during crises and evacuations.
- Provide Customer Service: Greet and assist visitors, patients, and hospital staff. Provide directions and ensure that guests adhere to hospital policies and procedures.
- Conflict Resolution: De-escalate tense situations, resolve conflicts, and ensure that all interactions are handled calmly and professionally.
- Report Writing: Document daily activities, incidents, or accidents accurately. Complete reports on incidents, breaches, and security concerns.
- Collaboration with Hospital Staff: Work closely with hospital staff and local law enforcement to provide a coordinated security effort and ensure the safety of all parties involved.
- Enforce Hospital Policies: Ensure that hospital policies, including visitor and patient protocols, are followed. Address any violations in a manner that upholds hospital safety standards
Prerequisites:
- Valid Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check
- Valid First Aid & CPR - Level C (from a CSA-approved vendor)
- Valid Class 5 Driver License & must be willing to take shifts at sites within a reasonable driving distance.
- English (oral and written) fluency is a must
- Previous experience in security, law enforcement, or a related field preferred.
- Must be able to provide certifications in Use of Force (UOF) and Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB)
- Applicants lacking these certifications can opt into Paladin's UoF/MOAB training program prior to their onboarding training to ensure they meet the requirements of the position
- Please be aware: The UoF/MOAB training is not paid as it is a pre-requisite; however, Paladin will cover all of the costs of the training with a 6-month commitment to the position/availability
