We are searching for an Accounting Assistant to join the team! Reporting to the Manager, Finance and Administration, you will play a key role in supporting the Finance team by carrying out all aspects of the day-to-day accounts payable function and other accounting related duties. The position provides a unique opportunity to contribute to the overall effectiveness of a small, agile team dedicated to upholding the highest standards of financial integrity and operational excellence.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Complete day-to-day accounts payable activities, including maintenance of vendors and the processing and payment of invoices and expense claims.
  • Maintain certain general ledger accounts by preparing and posting journal entries and accruals and reconciling accounts.
  • Maintain bank account records, reconciling bank accounts and balances.
  • Assist with the preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements including the preparation of working papers and reconciliations.
  • Prepare quarterly HST and Statistics Canada filings.
  • Maintain an organized system for documents for compliance and easy retrieval, particularly for audit purposes.
  • Other relevant duties as assigned.

WHO YOU ARE:

  • You have completed a two-year Business Administration program with a concentration in accounting.
  • You have at least five years of experience in relevant accounting positions.
  • You have a knowledge of financial principles, accounting standards, and the preparation of financial statements.
  • You have the ability to work both collaboratively and with a high degree of independence and initiative.
  • You have proficiency in accounting software (Sage preferred) and the Microsoft Suite of products.
  • You have strong attention to detail, excellent time management and communication skills, and a positive attitude towards learning and growth.

SALARY:
