Skills Canada Nova Scotia is seeking a creative and organized Media Production Coordinator to join our dynamic team for a maternity leave coverage position. If you have a passion for visual storytelling and a keen eye for detail, this is your opportunity to contribute to inspiring and impactful content that supports our mission to promote skilled trades and technologies in Nova Scotia.

Skills Canada - Nova Scotia (SCNS) is a not-for-profit organization that provides opportunities for youth to explore skilled trades and technologies, discover their passions, and strive for excellence. The Nova Scotia Apprenticeship Agency (NSAA) stewards Nova Scotia's apprenticeship system, overseeing the training and certification processes for 71 trades across the construction, motive power, industrial/manufacturing, and service sectors. Together, the NSAA and SCNS are leveraging their partnership to create this opportunity to produce a series of videos to inspire people to start a career in skilled trades.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Capture & Create:
    • Film video content and capture high-quality photography at various events and locations
    • Edit photos for promotional use across digital and print platforms
  • Post-Production:
    • Organize and import raw media for editing and archival
    • Edit and assemble all b-roll and non-interview footage, aligning with established interview segments and final video durations
    • Enhance storytelling through stylistic, cinematic visuals and creative editing
  • Finalization & Delivery:
    • Export, finalize, and prepare all media content for delivery across multiple platforms
    • Upload and manage content on internal and public-facing platforms (e.g., social media, website)

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in video production, photography, and post-production
  • Proficiency in editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, Lightroom, or similar
  • Strong sense of visual storytelling, pacing, and composition
  • Highly organized with experience in media management and archival practices
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
  • Availability to work flexible hours, including some evenings or weekends during events
  • Effective time management skills and the ability to balance competing priorities
  • Proven ability to take initiative, work independently, and as part of a team
  • An understanding of the Nova Scotia Trades Training system would be considered an asset.
  • Being a member of a diverse community will also be considered an asset.

Additional Information:

  • This is a temporary, full-time position ending March 31, 2026, covering a maternity leave
  • Must have access to reliable transportation to travel to video shoots across Nova Scotia
