DUTIES: This occupational therapy position is a highly independent, professional and clinical position with the primary purpose of facilitating optimal occupational performance of clients with a wide variety of physical, cognitive, psychosocial developmental, or environmentally induced impairments. Services are provided across the continuum of care including acute inpatients, ambulatory care clients, and long term care residents for this catchment area.

Clinical work involves the assessment, treatment, planning, implementation and evaluation of clinical outcomes for clients whose occupational performance is impaired due to normal aging, illness, injury or developmental disability. The occupational therapist will collaborate with an interdisciplinary team in the achievement of this work.

Non clinical work includes participating in site and regional performance improvement initiatives, participating in clinical education of occupational therapy students, providing input into and monitoring of occupational therapy budgets and resources, maintaining workload measurement statistics as per MIS Standards, consulting to other health care professionals and community agencies regarding occupational therapy services, applying policy and procedures and clinical protocols to the practice area etc.

Clinical and non-clinical duties are completed with the support and direction of the Regional Clinical Leader of Occupational Therapy and the Manager of Hospital and Clinical Services.

QUALIFICATIONS: Eligibility for registration with the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists is required. Must be registered with the Newfoundland and Labrador Licensing Board prior to beginning employment.

NOTE: Use of a private vehicle is a condition of employment. Travel throughout the region may be required.
