Job Summary
This is an advanced, professional and leadership position within the Physiotherapy services of the Regional Medicine Program. The incumbent is an integral member of the interdisciplinary team providing services to clients in outpatient services, acute care inpatients and may provide coverage to residents in the long-term care facilities in the region as well as patients in the Emergency Room.
The Clinical Physiotherapist II is responsible for providing clinical expertise and leadership in the physiotherapy area. This is advanced professional practice requiring a high degree of independent work, problem solving, education and consultation with other professionals. The patient management includes patient assessment, functional issues, setting treatment goals, determining outcomes and planning follow up in consultation with patient and family. The Physiotherapist II will provide mentorship for the Physiotherapist I and supervision and delegation to Physiotherapy Support Workers is an expectation. The Physiotherapist II will be responsible to precept physiotherapy students and offer other clinical education experiences to students within Eastern Health.

This position reports to the Manager of Allied Health and maintains accountability for professional integrity issues to the Professional Practice Consultant for the discipline.

Occasionally uses hand tools and equipment.
Time pressures and interruptions are experienced with little control over work pace.
Higher than normal levels of attentiveness/alertness is required when performing activities in ICU with critically ill patients and dealing with clients with complex medical conditions
Job Qualifications
Graduation from an approved/recognized School of Physiotherapy is required.
Registration with the Newfoundland and Labrador College of Physiotherapists (NLCP) is required.
A minimum of three years' experience within the last five working as a Clinical Physiotherapist with adult clients is required.
Successful completion of a post entry education course in Orthopedic Level I (or equivalent as determined by Eastern Health) is required.
Demonstrated effective communication, both verbally and in writing with co-workers, patients and their families in both a one-on-one and/or group environment.
Effectively translated and communicated knowledge in the specialized area of physiotherapy practice to others.
Possessed proven leadership skills.
Demonstrated ability to provide supervision, coaching, mentorship and training to physiotherapists, physiotherapy support workers and students.
Ability to prioritize caseload and patient needs.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships as a member of an interprofessional team.
