Reporting directly to the Group Pricing and Actuarial Manager, the successful candidate plays a key role in analyzing and pricing groups of up to 1,000 lives.
You will be responsible for preparing quotes, renewals, and various option requests, ensuring justified, competitive proposals that align with market needs.
Your contribution will be essential to:
- Maintain profitability through the development and application of pricing and selection standards;
- Support the group insurance sales team in understanding client needs and delivering competitive benefit and rate proposals;
- Participate in negotiations with reinsurers and collaborate with some of our brokers and TPAs;
- Act as a resource person for junior team members by providing support, feedback, and contributing to their development.
This role requires excellent organizational and prioritization skills to meet deadlines while maintaining strong relationships with our partners.
- Analysis and Pricing: Conduct analysis and pricing for quotes, renewals, and option requests for groups of up to 1,000 lives. Assess insurability, evaluate risks, and ensure that proposals are justified, competitive, and profitable.
- Monitoring and Quality: Verify the accuracy of calculations, prepare renewal documents and letters, and maintain clear, complete documentation for each file in compliance with established standards.
- Negotiation and Collaboration: Participate in negotiations with reinsurers, support the sales team in developing competitive offers, and work closely with other departments (actuarial, accounting, claims, customer service, etc.).
- Priority Management: Effectively organize workload, set priorities according to deadlines and client needs, while contributing to balancing the overall team workload.
- Continuous Improvement and Knowledge Sharing: Contribute to improving pricing procedures, support the development of internal tools, act as a resource person for colleagues, and assist in training junior team members.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in French and English.
- 6 to 9 years (or more) of experience in group underwritting.
- In-depth knowledge of group insurance pricing and market trends.
- Strong analytical, synthesis, and problem-solving skills, often under tight deadlines.
- Ability to create innovative solutions aligned with client needs.
- Understanding of reports and contracts for various financial agreements (e.g., retention, ASO).
- Knowledge of contracts, laws, and regulations in group insurance across provinces.
- Strong negotiation and decision-making abilities within established standards.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
- Strong interpersonal skills and client focus.
