Salary: Annual salary starting at $90,000 - negotiable based on education and experience
Benefit Package: Paid vacation starting at three (3) weeks, paid sick time; 50/50 cost-shared health, dental, and short- and long-term disability benefits after 3 months; pension plan 50/50 shared with the employer available after 1 year.

As the General Manager of the Cheticamp Co-op and its group of companies, you are responsible for the overall success and strategic direction of the organization. Reporting to the Board of Directors, you will balance the co-op's mission with its business objectives, ensuring operations align with their member-driven values while achieving strong financial results. You'll also serve as the primary ambassador, cultivating strong community relationships and leading a high-performing team to deliver an exceptional experience for members.

Core Accountabilities:
- Serve as the primary ambassador for the co-op, building strong relationships with members, local businesses, government bodies, and community partners.
- Guide the co-op's long-term vision, ensuring strategic direction aligns with our member-driven values and social purpose.
- Grow and engage the membership, actively recruiting new members and keeping the community informed about our initiatives.
- Maintain the co-op's financial health, ensuring we meet all short- and long-term obligations.
- Support the Board of Directors, providing timely updates and information to guide organizational and operational decisions.
- Achieve strong operating results by meeting budgeted objectives for sales, income, and expenses.
- Implement effective reporting systems that provide high-quality, actionable data.
- Increase sales and member satisfaction by improving our products, services, pricing, and promotions.
- Build and manage a high-performing team by determining staffing needs, overseeing recruitment, and fostering professional development.
- Lead the human resources strategy, aligning HR goals with broader company objectives.
- Ensure the co-op operates in full compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
- Manage all facilities and equipment to provide a clean, modern, and convenient shopping experience.
- Oversee all aspects of office rental and business leases, including the NSLC business lease.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, Finance, Accounting, Business Management, or a similar field is required.
- Minimum five (5) to seven (7) years experience in retail management, or a related senior management role is required.
- Previous experience in strategic and operational management is required.
- Strong financial acumen and experience in budgeting and financial management is preferred.
- Previous experience working with a Board of Directors is considered an asset.
- Familiarity with co-operative principles and values is considered an asset.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and guide teams effectively.
- Skill and ability to drive organizational change in a manner that fosters collaboration amongst employees and the community.
- Proven track record of successful team management and business development.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- High level of professionalism in dealing with diverse groups of people, including Board Members, management, staff, and community members.
- Exceptional time-management skills and ability to adapt to changing priorities.
- Ability to maintain a high level of integrity and discretion in handling confidential information.
Language Requirements:
- Fluency in both English and French will be considered a significant asset to this role.
