The Manager, Policy, Procedure, and Regulations is responsible for managing four distinct operating areas within the Workers Safety and Compensation Commission: 1) policy development and research, 2) procedures development 3) regulations review 4) Codes of Practice development.
The incumbent is involved in and leads policy and procedures development by providing professional advice, informed analysis and support to the WSCC, its Senior Management Team and Governance Council on a broad range of program and policy issues under the Northwest Territories and Nunavut Workers Compensation Acts, Safety Acts, Mine Health and Safety Acts, and Explosive Use Acts, in support of the WSCCs Vision, Mission and Values. Within the regulations review function, the manager leads the review and development of regulatory initiatives related to the mandate of the WSCC. This role also supports Prevention Services in the review and development of Codes of Practice under occupational health & safety legislation.

- Managing the development, approval and implementation of the Comprehensive Policy Review Plan (CPRP), Administrative Policy Review Plan (APRP), ongoing policy development priorities and policy stakeholder engagement process.
- Participating in inter jurisdictional policy activities and provides WSCCs position and perspective on policies and programs to internal and external stakeholders.
- Managing the development of procedural documentation to support the standardization of work, training for service delivery, continuous business improvement and system controls.
- Developing and manage the Regulatory Review Plan.
- Managing the development and review of Codes of Practice under the Safety Acts and Occupational Health and Safety Regulations, at the direction of the Chief Safety Officer.
- Providing overall management of staff and resources for the Policy, Procedure, and Regulations unit.
What you bring to the role:
- A Bachelors degree in a related discipline combined with a minimum of five years of progressive experience in a combination of policy and program development, and legislative development. A minimum of three years of management/supervisory experience is required. Related education includes, but is not limited to, political science, public administration, economics, and business administration.
- Experience with workers compensation and occupational health and safety is an asset.
