Service New Brunswick is seeking individuals to join the Technology Services Division as a Quality Assurance Lead. The SNB Technology Services Division which provides technology services to all Government of New Brunswick departments and Regional Health Authorities. With over 700 employees, we form one of the largest IT employers in the province with office locations in most cities and regions. The Government of New Brunswick (GNB) is committed to transforming how it manages its operational business units and finances. GNB's goal is to modernize its business processes though the implementation and operation of an Oracle Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Cloud Software as a Service (SaaS) solution over the next 10+ years. The Quality Assurance Lead will play a role in the efficient and effective delivery of technology and business solutions needed to meet GNB's evolving business requirements and improvement of processes. This position is part of a multi-disciplinary and highly skilled team assigned to creating and supporting innovative strategies to help transform GNB service delivery through the ERP Cloud platform

What will you be doing?

The Quality Assurance (QA) Lead will be responsible for providing direction and support to team members and activities related to establishing quality metrics, mentoring team members, managing outside resources, and developing test programs (strategies and execution plans) Key responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Participating in the creation and maintenance of QA procedures;
  • Participating in the creation of project test plans and other assigned quality assurance related documents;
  • Reviewing and analyzing system specifications and project documentation for the purpose of designing, building and maintaining test cases, both manual and automated;
  • Utilizing testing software;
  • Providing direction and expertise in the identification and setup of automated vs. manual testing;
  • Executing test cases and providing testing results in preparation for project releases and upgrades;
  • Reporting and tracking defects to resolution;
  • Participating in the change management reviews and approvals;
  • Adhering to quality assurance procedures and standards as laid out by the QA Manager;
  • Attending team status meetings and working group meetings as required;
  • Working closely with the Quality Assurance team and Project and Business leads to deliver assigned deliverables and meet project deadlines.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's Degree in an IT Related Field with 2-4 years progressive testing experience OR Two year college diploma in an IT related field and five 5-7 years of progressive testing experience.

Automated Testing with 1-2 years experience in writing and running using automation software.

Written and spoken competence in English is required.

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS: Preference may be given to candidates who demonstrate they have training or experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • Knowledge of testing software and test automation tools (HP Quality Center - ALM and UFT - Unified Functional Test)
  • Knowledge of Sellenium
  • Completion of a Quality Assurance certificate program or a Quality Assurance certification; EX: ISTQB
  • Professional membership with a recognized Quality Assurance society; EX: SQA
  • Demonstrated Experience Quality Assurance Frameworks and project methodologies including Waterfall and Agile

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • On occasion, some travel throughout the province may be required.
  • Some weekday evenings and weekend work hours may be required.
  • Candidates will be required to undergo Criminal History Clearance prior to appointment.

Salary : $57,616 - $80,574 annually – Pay Band 4 - Management and Non-Union Pay Plan
