Responsibilities

The School of Education at Acadia University is seeking a B.Ed. Program Manager and Practicum Coordinator to play a central role in shaping the success of our Bachelor of Education program. This position involves leadership, coordination, and relationship-building to ensure our students have meaningful field experiences and strong pathways into the teaching profession.

In this role, you will work closely with students, faculty, and education partners across Nova Scotia to coordinate all aspects of the B.Ed. practicum. From collaborating on and supporting innovative practicum models, to maintaining strong partnerships with schools, to ensuring students meet program and licensing requirements, you will be at the heart of the field experience. You will also provide guidance to students on placements, certification, and professional development opportunities, helping them navigate the transition from classroom learning to classroom teaching.

The B.Ed. Program Manager and Practicum Coordinator provides leadership in the delivery, and administration of the B.Ed. field experience program, while also supporting student recruitment and program management initiatives. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with faculty, students, school and community partners, and provincial education bodies to ensure the continued excellence of Acadia's teacher education program.

Qualifications
  • A bachelor's degree in education or a related field. A graduate degree is considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of teacher education, field-based learning, and teacher certification requirements in the Canadian context.
  • In-school experience (5 years minimum) in diverse settings is an asset.
  • Demonstrated experience in educational leadership, student advising, and program coordination.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and relationship-building skills with the ability to work collaboratively across diverse groups.
  • Proven ability to work independently, exercise judgment, and respond to rapidly evolving situations with professionalism.
  • Experience with recruitment, marketing, or student outreach considered an asset.
  • Ability to travel to school sites within Nova Scotia (some rural/remote visits required).
