Job Description - MIG / TIG Welder
Location: Scarborough, Ontario (near Kennedy Rd & Finch Ave)
Shift/Hours: Monday to Thursday, 7:00 AM - 4:00 PM; Friday, 7:00 AM - 1:00 PM
Pay Rate: $25.00 - $28.00 per hour (based on experience)
Position Overview:
The MIG / TIG Welder is responsible for performing high-quality welds on custom metal components in a modern fabrication facility. The primary focus will be on MIG welding, with occasional TIG welding tasks. This role involves interpreting blueprints, using a variety of tools, and supporting other production tasks as needed. Training in TIG welding may be provided for candidates with limited experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform MIG welding on custom metal components with accuracy and consistency
- Support TIG welding activities when required
- Read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
- Operate hand tools, tack welders, and measuring instruments
- Inspect welds to ensure adherence to company quality standards
- Assist with other production or fabrication tasks as needed
Requirements:
- Minimum 1 year of MIG welding experience
- TIG welding experience (6-12 months preferred) or willingness to learn
- Ability to interpret blueprints and follow technical instructions
- Skilled in the use of hand tools and measuring devices
- Physically able to lift and handle materials up to 50 lbs
- CWB certifications considered an asset
- CSA-approved steel-toed safety footwear required
- Adaptable and able to assist across departments when required
Work Conditions:
- Work is performed in a metal fabrication shop with active welding and cutting equipment
- Exposure to heat, sparks, fumes, and machinery is typical
- Personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn at all times
- Work environment is safety-focused and fast-paced
