Michelin North America (Canada) Inc., is seeking a co-op student with a specialty in Ergonomics to join our Granton Progress Team. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of ergonomic principles and their application in industrial settings to improve efficiency, safety, and employee well-being while improving process flows. This position is suited for a student who is available for a minimum of 24 hours/week for part time, or up to 40 hours/week for full-time employment.

What you will do:

  • identify and propose actions to improve process flows, reduce operational expenses, and improve ergonomics and productivity;
  • design ergonomic workspaces;
  • collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement ergonomic solutions;
  • analyze and challenge existing procedures throughout the facility, make recommendations, and work with the operational teams to integrate solutions;
  • provide guidance and support to operational management by identifying progress and ergonomic opportunities; and,
  • develop, implement and improve manufacturing processes, tools, equipment and work activities, to meet and exceed the site's safety, quality, delivery, and cost objectives.

What you will bring:

  • enrollment in Kinesiology, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, or related field; and,
  • availability to start in September and continue through December 2025.

The following competencies and assets are preferred, but not required:

  • certification in Ergonomics (complete or in progress);
  • experience in Lean Manufacturing tools (5S, PDCA, Bottleneck Management, Value Stream Mapping, etc), and SixSigma Certifications;
  • exposure to digitalization (Industry 4.0) and proficiency with tools such as Office BI Apps, OsiSoft PI, Raspberry Pi, etc;
  • strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and resolve issues, including the ability to develop positive relationships with internal plant customers; and,
  • proven solid teamwork, interpersonal, leadership and planning skills.

What we offer:

Relocation: Travel expenses to and from the area at the start and end of the term are provided as a lumpsum payment at the beginning of the term based on the location of your educational institution and plant; travel within the local area is the responsibility of the student (public transit is not available).

Accommodation: Shared, furnished accommodation is available at no cost to the student; however, space is limited and assigned based on need. In the event need exceeds availability, a housing allowance will be issued in lieu.

In-person experience: All positions offered are located on-site at our world-class manufacturing facilities. Our co-op experiences are best suited to students pursuing hands-on, applied, practical experiences.
