ADMINISTRATIVE DIETITIAN PERMANENT PART-TIME
The R.K. MacDonald Nursing Home is seeking a Dietitian that has self-leadership style, is energetic, and enjoys the company of seniors living in long term care! Our Home is nationally accredited and serves 136 residents and their families and employs approximately 280 staff.
Reporting to the Director of Environmental & Food Services, the Dietitian will develop, coordinate and evaluate nutritional services for the Home. The Administrative Dietitian assists the Director in identifying goals and objectives to further improve the overall scope and efficiency of the Food Services Department and sets the standards for safety, sanitation, and food quality. Key Responsibilities:
- The Administrative Dietitian will assist in advocacy and future implementation of Food Service Software into the facility.
- The Administrative Dietitian will work with Gordon Food Services Cycle Menu Management software to input recipes and the current menu to assist in managing food waste, budget and nutritional accuracy of menu items.
- Work with the Cooks and Clinical Dietitian to standardize current recipes for meals and baked goods.
- Work with the Cooks and Clinical Dietitian on portion sizes and reducing over production of recipes while meeting nutritional guidelines.
- With Director and Clinical Dietitian, updates current Food Service policies and procedures for procurement, storage, and preparation of food as recommended by the Department of Health and Infection Control Guidelines.

Required Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Foods and Nutrition from a recognized University.
- Completion of Dietetic Internship approved by Dietitians of Canada.
- Member of Nova Scotia Dietetic Association or eligible for membership.
Required Experience
- Previous experience in a long-term care facility preferred.
- Familiarity with food service operation and equipment would be an asset
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Familiarity with computer operation would be an asset

Hours of Work: Non-union Regular Part-time.60 FTE (FTE 48hrs/biweekly) hours to flex as required.
Salary: Competitive Salary to commensurate with education and experience (annual salary range is $47,000-$51,000) ($37.66 to $40.87 per hour 24 hrs per week)
