Salary Range: $54,614 - $70,998 per annum
YOUR FOCUS
Reporting to the Manager, Systems & Applications, the Desktop Analyst supports UNB's desktop and endpoint computing services by assisting in the delivery of new desktops, laptops, and mobile devices; and by maintaining, supporting, and monitoring existing services. The position provides day-to-day troubleshooting, implements approved configurations, and escalates complex issues when required. The role focuses on low to medium complexity activities and contributes to the effective and reliable operation of endpoint services across the institution.
- Maintain desktop images, virtual services, applications, ITS-managed computer labs, and faculty/staff desktop systems by installing, configuring, patching, testing, documenting, and deploying OS and application upgrades, and performing regular maintenance.
- Provide timely and professional Tier 1 operational support for virtual services and ITS-managed labs, and Tier 2 support for virtual services, faculty and staff desktop images, operating systems, applications, and non-ITS managed labs by troubleshooting, resolving incidents, fulfilling support requests, and creating documentation.
- Install new desktop systems, images, and software or virtual software deployments by applying established procedures and security standards for creation, installation, configuration, testing, and deployment.
- Monitor desktop security, systems, and application performance by checking logs, receiving automated alerts, monitoring security lists, collecting and analysing metrics, and preparing reports to proactively identify issues.
- Support researcher, departmental, and enterprise needs by identifying requirements, applying standards, researching options, analysing results, and presenting recommendations for approval.
- Design desktop services that meet the needs of the UNB Fredericton campus by developing and interpreting business requirements and technical specifications, applying existing architecture standards, and providing input on new architectures.
- Contribute to team success by demonstrating a positive attitude, taking initiative, sharing ideas, participating in departmental and university activities, and representing ITS professionally.
- Participate in project teams as an effective member and complete independent projects successfully and on time.
- Manage student employees in the Client Services Unit by delivering orientation and training, assigning tasks, prioritizing work, ensuring professional student/client interactions, and providing guidance during extended Help Desk hours.
WHAT YOU BRING
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or Engineering.
- 2 years of related work experience.
Additional Strengths:
- Proficiency troubleshooting Windows and Mac operating systems.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Knowledge of Active Directory.
- Familiarity with virtual environments.
- Skills in enterprise endpoint management systems (e.g., Intune).
- Must be able to work independently or as part of a team.
