Definition of Work:
This is skilled or advanced work at the journeyperson level in building mechanical repair. The duties will include, but not limited to, performing plumbing repairs including installation of various types of piping and pumping systems and fixtures, repairs and maintains piping for cooling, heating, water delivery and fluid waste disposal systems; reads and interprets blueprints, drawings and sketches to determine requirements; orders materials and supplies; performs preventative maintenance on various equipment and machines; liaises and communicates with contractors; maintenance and repair of building systems, mechanical equipment and other related duties including general maintenance as requested. Travel within the region with overnight stays to perform maintenance related duties may be required. The successful candidate must demonstrate an awareness of and be responsible for promoting and supporting person-and family-centered care, demonstrate a commitment to safety and partner with all team members to improve worker and patient safety by integrating safety into work practices, identifying risks and implementing improvements.

? Regularly lifts/moves object up to 25 lbs. Occasionally lifts/moves >50lbs. Push/Pulling forces up to 50lbsF are required.
? Work repetitively involves reaching/stretching, bending and twisting; regular standing, walking, climbing, and being in awkward or cramped positions.
? Use of gross and fine motor skills; constant use of hand tools that require accurate control and steadiness and maintaining physical balance (e.g. ladders/scaffolding).
? Work Environments present potential for exposure to scented/chemical products and/or other allergens within publicly accessible areas.
? Work environments can present exposure to loud noises or environmental hazards; potential for exposure to blood, bodily fluids and/or other contagion. Personal protective equipment is required for specific areas.
? Maintaining a clean-shaven face can be mandated to ensure proper seal of personal protective equipment.
Required qualifications:
? A one-year Plumbing program from a recognized institute approved by Central Health.
? Red Seal Journeyperson Certificate in Plumbing.
? Demonstrated working knowledge of mechanical systems, HVAC, refrigeration, energy management and maintenance, repairs and installation of medical device repossessing, dietary and laundry equipment.
? Valid Class V Driver?s License issued by the province of Newfoundland and Labrador and a clear driver?s abstract from Motor Vehicle Registration (Regional travel required)

? A satisfactory record of work performance and attendance is required for this position.
? A satisfactory certificate of conduct from the RCMP or local police authority.
