We are seeking a supportive and experienced leader to join our Homecare team as Manager, Rural Homecare Operations. In this role, you will play a vital part in strengthening homecare operations, building meaningful connections with community stakeholders, guiding and supporting our teams, fostering collaboration, accountability and continuous quality improvement.

Reporting to the Senior Director, Home & Community Care.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manages and is accountable for the staff based at rural sites, including hiring, orientation and performance management of Supervisors, Staffing Officers and other staff as required.
  • Provides day to day operational leadership to rural sites, fostering team connection and collaboration and ensuring the implementation of standardized workflows.
  • Ensures site-based integration, alignment, adherence to standardized policies and procedures and compliance with Quality and Accreditation Standards
  • Ensures quality of client care, monitoring of KPIs and overall performance of rural sites
  • Responsible for Operational budgets and achieving growth targets
  • Esures staff well-being, promoting safe work practices, psychological safety and skills development.
  • Develops leadership capacity within rural site teams through mentorship, succession planning, and career development support.
  • Provides support to the Senior Director with broad Homecare deliverables including data submissions, system performance, tracking progress on operational plans, workforce planning, and monitoring large-scale projects
  • Ensures the oversight of emergency and risk management for the rural sites, in keeping with the Northwood Business Continuity plan.
  • Identifies and implements strategies to ensure the sustainability of rural sites
  • Responsible for 8-10 direct reports and ~50 indirect reports across 2 sites

TASKS

  • Leads/co-leads Community Advisory Councils to ensure community-driven care delivery.
  • Represents the agency at regional and provincial homecare meetings, ensuring leadership representation and advocacy for issues pertaining to rural communities.
  • Develops site-based operational plans that align with the organization's strategic plan and reflect local community needs
  • Ensures all client and staff materials are current
  • Supports team through change management initiatives
  • Works collaboratively with others in the organization to improve processes and policies in support of organizational goals
  • Determines staffing requirements and ensures required coverage for vacations and other vacancies
  • Leads the recruitment process for assigned positions
  • Participates in the collective agreement negotiations as directed
  • Completes other tasks as required

EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum 5 years related experience in a leadership role (ie: supervisory or managerial).
  • Experience with policy, planning and quality improvement
  • Experience in healthcare, long term care and/or home and community care an asset
  • Previous experience in: client/community engagement, strategic partnerships, systems-thinking, risk management, business planning, operational planning, data analysis, project management all considered assets.

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, REGISTRATION, DESIGNATION

  • University Degree in a Health and/or Business field preferred, combination of relevant education and experience considered
  • Regulated Health Care Professional would be an asset
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Power Point, Excel and Outlook required
  • Management and/or Leadership certification preferred.
  • A valid Nova Scotia Driver's License and reliable access to a vehicle: must be willing to travel across sites a minimum of once per week (hybrid work arrangement will be considered as this role spans 3 sites).

Hours of Work: 80 hours bi-weekly (8 hours) - Day

Salary/Benefits: As per Northwood Scale

Effective: October 1st 2025
