Who we are
The GNB Intranet Team is leading intranet and digital workplace transformation at the Government of New Brunswick (GNB) as part of the Digital New Brunswick Strategy. We are seeking a content specialist to help our team continually reimagine and improve the digital work experience for the thousands of GNB employees who rely on the intranet and related digital tools to support their work in serving New Brunswickers. What you will do
Reporting to the director, digital workplace transformation and working alongside the content manager, you will be the team's primary point-person and relationship-builder for content owners, publishers, department intranet teams, and ultimately, all employees who rely on the GNB Intranet as a service.
The heart of the role is working with content owners to identify, prioritize, create, and redesign intranet content while managing user feedback to keep the intranet service improving. You will accomplish this by applying solid user experience (UX) design and web writing principles in all that you do.
You thrive in a small, Agile team that plans and delivers over three-week sprints while being ready to pivot as needs or priorities change. You are a collaborative, organized, self-starter who can work independently. You care about making content that is accessible, consistent, and user-centered, and you want to help others to meet those standards. You are comfortable using technology and are keen to learn more.
Typical day-to-day activities
- Maintaining collaborative relationships with our content community: reviewing/editing submissions against standards, seeking fresh content, and proposing creative solutions to design challenges.
- Writing and editing news or content pages based on the style guides and plain language.
- Creating and editing site pages, lists, and libraries using SharePoint Online following our lookbook.
- Training, coaching, and supporting our content community in managing their sites to standard with an unwavering focus on meeting audience needs.
- Reviewing and reporting on site analytics to gain insights into user behaviour and content priority.
- Monitoring and responding to direct user feedback from employees.
- Additional duties / value-added participation on the GNB Intranet Team.
Qualifications
Your strong interpersonal skills help you build and maintain successful relationships with a variety of personalities, from one-on-one interactions to training or facilitating larger groups. You learn quickly and are comfortable balancing a variety of tasks in a dynamic, yet structured team environment.
Need to have (essential qualifications)
- University degree in any field which has strong interpersonal and communication skills as a requirement, as well as at least four years' experience in applying these attributes in the management of relationships/partnerships OR
- College diploma in in any field which has strong interpersonal and communication skills as a requirement, as well as at least seven years' experience in applying these attributes in the management of relationships/partnerships.
An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
- Written and spoken competence in English and French is required. Please state your language capability.

Nice to have (asset qualifications)
Preference may be given to candidates that have experience in:
- Microsoft 365 technologies
- Intranet or website planning and (re)development
- Intranet/web content management
- Intranet/web analytics (site user behaviour)
- User experience (UX) design
- Authoring/publishing in web content management systems (e.g., WordPress, SharePoint Online).

Salary: $57,616 to $80,574 annually
