Clerk Typist II, Temporary Call-In
General Administration, A.M Guy Memorial Health Centre, Buchans

Definition of work:

This position provides clerical support to the General Administration, AM Guy Memorial Health Centre, Buchans. Duties are related to the pre-analytical and post-analytical tasks and documentation associated with a medical laboratory. These include reception, patient registration, communication with various clinics, physician and laboratories regarding lab specimens and orders, the sorting of lab reports, and other general clerical duties as assigned related to the operation of the laboratory department. Other duties include the sorting, registering, and labelling of referred-in specimens. The incumbent must possess good communication skills and be able to prioritize tasks in a fast paced and changing environment. The successful candidate must demonstrate an awareness of and be responsible for promoting and supporting person-and family-centered care, demonstrate a commitment to safety and partner with all team members to improve worker and patient safety by integrating safety into work practices, identifying risks and implementing improvements.

Required qualifications:
? Successful completion of a recognized two-year Office Administration course
? Minimum typing speed of 40 words per minute
? Completion of a 60-hour Medical Terminology course
? Demonstrated strong communication and organizational skills
? Demonstrated ability to exercise initiative and good judgment, as well as, work with the general public and clients with tact and diplomacy
? A satisfactory record of work performance and attendance is required for this position
? A satisfactory Certificate of Conduct from the RCMP or local police authority

Preferred qualifications:
? Knowledge of Microsoft Office and Meditech software
