Job Summary
The Occupational Therapy Support Worker works under the clinical direction and supervision of the Clinical Occupational Therapists to provide Occupational Therapy Services to clients. The Occupational Therapy Support Worker's duties may include maintaining an inventory of wheelchairs, seating components, bathroom equipment and other adaptive aids, ordering supplies and equipment, setting up seating systems for individual patients and residents under the direction of the occupational therapist, and occasionally fabricating adaptive equipment. The Occupational Therapy Support Worker will carry out individual and groups interventions with clients as directed by the Occupational Therapist, engaging clients in day to day occupations in self-care productivity and leisure. The Occupational Therapy Support Worker will be responsible to precept occupational therapy support worker students and offer other clinical education experiences to students within Eastern Health.
This position reports to the Regional Manager Allied Health and maintains accountability to the Regional Professional Practice Consultant for Occupational Therapy for professional integrity and practice issues.

Constantly required to stand or walk for extended periods and occasionally required to drive to clients' homes or community buildings to assist with therapy or to facilitate activities.
Regularly required to work in a variety of body postures such as awkward or cramped positions, bending, kneeling and stretching and sometimes requiring strength and endurance.
Occasionally operates machinery, equipment, and hand tools that require controlled fine finger work and precision.
Regularly required visual and auditory concentration.
Job Qualifications
Graduation from High School or equivalent.
Successful completion of an approved/recognized Occupational Therapy Assistant or Rehabilitation Assistant Program is required.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with others to meet patient goals and overall delivery of occupational therapy services.
Ability to utilize clinical judgment, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
A satisfactory record of work performance is required.
