What you will do:
This is a very challenging and rewarding position involving capital investment into new construction and renovations of a variety of Provincial Park and Heritage Site infrastructure. The successful candidate will be required to handle a variety of technical duties including managing construction projects.

The primary responsibilities are:

  • Directing, supervising and reviewing the work of consultants and contractors to stay within scope and budget
  • Consulting with staff to determine specific needs
  • Conducting site investigations
  • Preparing designs, layout proposals, cost estimates, computer-aided designs, working drawings and specifications for various projects
  • Liaising with contractors and consultants
  • Planning, coordinating and administering assigned projects for successful completion
  • Administering construction contracts, interpreting tender documents and contracts, monitoring projects on-site, and providing regular reporting
  • Performing other related duties as required

Your attitude, skills and interests are just as important as your area of study. We are looking for diverse backgrounds that bring a combination of the following:

Required Competencies:

  • Diploma from a recognized two (2) year post-secondary engineering technology program in the architectural, civil and/or electrical field with a minimum of six (6) years of progressively responsible related work experience, including two (2) years of project management experience
  • Must be a member, or be eligible for membership, in the New Brunswick Society of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists
  • Valid class 5 driver's license as issued by the Province of New Brunswick
  • An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.

Written and spoken competence in English and French is required. Please state your language capability.

If there are no applicants with the above essential qualifications, we may consider applicants with the following qualifications and appoint at a lower classification:

Engineering and Field Level VI:

  • Diploma from a recognized two (2) year engineering technology program in the architectural, civil and/or electrical field with a minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible related work experience

Engineering and Field Level V:

  • Diploma from a recognized two (2) year engineering technology program in the architectural, civil and/or electrical field with a minimum of four (4) years of progressively responsible related work experience

Nice to have:

  • Strong knowledge of the National Building Code
  • Significant experience in construction contract administration and/or project management
  • Experience working with AutoCAD Civil 3D
  • Knowledge of geographic information systems (GIS) and asset management

Wage:

  • Engineering and Field Level VII: $2,327.00 to $2,932.00 bi-weekly
  • Engineering and Field Level VI: $2,126.00 to $2,671.00 bi-weekly
  • Engineering and Field Level V: $1,935.00 to $2,434.00 bi-weekly

Work environment:

  • Office location: Marysville Place, 20 McGloin Street, Fredericton
  • Standard hours of work: Monday - Friday, 8:15 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
  • Remote work throughout New Brunswick; NB Parks and Heritage Properties
