Senior Mechanical Estimator

Salary: Starting at $80,000.00 per year with signing bonus based on experience

Job description: We are seeking a talented and experienced Mechanical Estimator to join our growing organization. As a crucial member of our team, you will be responsible for providing detailed and accurate estimates for mechanical projects. As a Mechanical Estimator, you will prepare, review, and present discipline estimates for specific project proposal activities. In this role, you will provide estimating assistance and guidance to projects, develop conceptual estimates, and perform cost analysis. You will be responsible for assisting in the development of discipline estimates, developing, and updating historical databases, and assisting in the development of department procedures. You will provide direction to others on estimating specific level tasks as required.

Job Duties:

• Analyze project plans, specifications, blueprints, and drawings to calculate the probable costs of labor, materials, and equipment for mechanical systems.
• Prepare detailed estimates for labor, equipment, and materials by conducting accurate quantity take-offs from project drawings and specifications.
• Manage the tendering process, coordinate bid packages, and prepare comprehensive proposals and bid forms for clients.
• Maintain a professional and trustworthy relationship with suppliers and various involved parties, such as engineers, owners, and contractors to gather price quotes, compare bids, and negotiate costs for materials and services.
• Develop project plans, cost monitoring systems, and progress schedules to support project management.
• Coordinate with other disciplines such as planning, scheduling, procurement, and proposal team
• Collaborate with estimate team and make site visits when required.

Skills & Competencies:

• Bachelor's degree or Technical Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience in mechanical estimation with relevant industry experience.
• 5 - 7 years of relevant experience in mechanical estimating for major projects
• Familiarity with Canadian construction industry standards and regulations.
• Excellent communication English skills.
• Effective presentation and negotiation skills.
• Proficiency in estimation software and tools such as AutoBid, Bluebeam, MS Office or equivalent software.
• Well organized, flexible, team player, detail oriented with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
• Prioritize workload and consistently meet deadlines while constantly changing tasks and demands
• Strong analytical and mathematical skills with attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
• Strong understanding of mechanical systems and components.
• Excellent problem-solving skills.

Work Conditions:

• Permanent full-time position
• Monday to Friday - with flexibility to meet deadlines.

Work Location: Hybrid remote in Charlo, NB
