The New Brunswick Housing Corporation (NBHC) is seeking an individual to join the recently renewed and restructured NBHC under it's Infrastructure Division as an Engineering and Field Level IV-V in Fredericton.

NBHC is a Crown Corporation that was established in 2023 that is responsible for developing and maintaining provincial housing facilities, programs, initiatives, strategies, and renting services for landlords and tenants. NBHC is focused on working with all levels of government, community groups, organizations, and the private sector to identify and maximize housing development opportunities while providing support through a housing strategy to positively impact New Brunswickers.

What you will do?

As a member of the Engineering Services team, the successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the effective capital planning and management of NBHC-owned building assets through a combination of data analysis, technical expertise, and long-term planning.

The candidate will be responsible for collecting, maintaining, and analyzing data related to building condition, asset performance, and lifecycle requirements. They will ensure the accuracy and integrity of asset databases, particularly in relation to building systems, components, and capital renewal needs. The role may involve conducting or supporting field inspections and technical assessments to validate data and inform capital planning priorities.

Using this information, the Capital Planning Technologist will contribute to the development of multi-year capital plans by providing data-driven insights that support investment decisions based on condition, risk, criticality, and service levels. The role includes preparing clear reports, dashboards, and visual tools to communicate asset performance and capital needs to stakeholders. The candidate will also ensure that all asset-related work aligns with applicable building codes, engineering standards, and industry best practices.

The successful candidate may also be called upon to support other teams within the organization as needed, particularly in areas where their technical knowledge and analytical skills can add value. Opportunities for involvement in project management may arise, particularly in the planning or execution phases of capital or maintenance projects.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

Engineering and Field Level IV: Diploma from a recognized two (2) year engineering technology program in the architectural, mechanical, civil and/or electrical field with a minimum of three (3) years of progressively responsible related work experience. Knowledge and experience with building systems and software applications are required. Applicants must possess a valid Class 5 Driver's License issued by the Province of New Brunswick.

Engineering and Field Level V: Diploma from a recognized two (2) year engineering technology program in the architectural, mechanical, civil and/or electrical field with a minimum of three (4) years of progressively responsible related work experience. Knowledge and experience with building systems and software applications are required. Applicants must possess a valid Class 5 Driver's License issued by the Province of New Brunswick.

Written and spoken competence in English is required. Please state your language capability.

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS: Preference may be given to candidates that demonstrate the following assets:

  • Experience working with data or asset management software.
  • Working knowledge of the National Building Code of Canada.
  • Experience in residential building construction.
  • Experience with Microsoft Suites, specifically Excel.
  • Project management experience.

Subject to the response to this competition, candidates may be required to demonstrate on their application one or more of the asset qualifications in addition to the essential qualifications in order to be given further consideration.

SALARY:

Engineering and Field Level IV: $1,763.00 to $2,211.00 bi?weekly (based on a 36 ¼ hour work week).
Engineering and Field Level V: $1,935.00 to $2,434.00 bi?weekly (based on a 36 ¼ hour work week).
