In this role, you will :

  • Assemble wheelchairs according to provided specifications.
  • Maintenance, repair and inspection of health care equipment (i.e. wheelchairs, mobility devices, etc..), ensuring all equipment meets operational, health, and safety standards.
  • Occasional delivery and set up of equipment. Provide instruction, make on-site adjustment and repair as directed.
  • Conduct troubleshooting of equipment malfunctions, utilizing expertise to ensure minimal downtime and proper functioning of equipment.
  • Manage inventory and equipment lifecycle, ensuring accurate tracking, proper maintenance, and timely repairs, while identifying and addressing any gaps in equipment availability or functionality.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety standards through monitoring and reporting of equipment condition, safety issues, and repair activities.
  • Provide guidance on the selection, acquisition, and disposal of equipment, ensuring that all equipment meets safety regulations and operational needs.
  • Maintain up-to-date records in the inventory management system, ensuring all maintenance, repair, and safety reports are accurately documented and easily accessible for audits and reporting purposes.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction through timely delivery, setup, and troubleshooting of equipment, addressing any client issues or needs promptly and professionally.
  • Work with a wide variety of health care professionals to ensure timely and safe completion of work orders

What we are looking for :

  • Mechanical aptitude / demonstratable experience with hand tools is required (i.e. bike repair, automotive repair, wood working, equipment assembly / disassembly, etc..)
  • Previous experience / education in a health care field is an asset
  • Previous experience working with health equipment (i.e. wheelchairs, etc..) is an asset but not required.
  • Ability to learn / become familiar with a wide variety of health care equipment.
  • Ability to identify problems and apply technical knowledge to develop solutions.
  • Ability to adhere to technical standards and contribute to process improvements within the program.
  • Demonstrated computer skills are required. (i.e. Microsoft Office / D365, SharePoint, etc..) A working knowledge of inventory control systems is an asset.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills, verbal and written.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to remain flexible in a fast-paced environment
  • Able to do heavy lifting (50lbs to 100lbs).
  • Previous WHIMIS and Occupational Health and Safety training is considered an asset.
  • A valid driver's license and satisfactory driver's abstract is required.

Working Conditions :

  • The majority of time the incumbent is performing work which requires manual dexterity. In addition, the work often requires attention to detail.
