Hours of Work: 37.5 hours/week
Salary: Based on qualifications and experience in accordance with current salary scales of Natoaganeg First Nation
Status: Full-time Term (September - June)

Position

Natoaganeg First Nation is committed to providing their children with a healthy and inclusive learning environment where all students can achieve their academic potential. Natoaganeg School is an independent community school focused on providing quality, culturally focused education to the children of a Mi'gmaq First Nation, aged four through to grade eight. Reporting to the School Principal, the Administrative Support serves as the school's front line contact responsible for the provision of professional, confidential and client friendly administrative and reception services to the team, parents, community and public.

Responsibilities

Administrative and office support activities:

  • Greeting persons entering the school and monitoring visitor access to ensure security
  • General clerical duties including typing, photocopying, fax and mailing
  • Answering the telephone, screening and directing calls, taking and relaying messages
  • Responding to queries from the public
  • Monitoring and maintaining office equipment in good working order and managing office supplies
  • Maintaining, controlling and safeguarding electronic and hard copy filing systems
  • Responding to requests for information and data
  • Providing administrative support to the education team such as receiving and distributing mail, typing of documents and correspondence, meeting and event planning and set-up, agenda preparation and minute taking
  • Coordinating and maintaining records for staff
  • Other duties as assigned

Education and Experience:

Graduation from high school with completion of post-secondary education in office administration and experience working in an administrative or secretarial position, preferably with a First Nations organization or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
