Job Title: Forklift Operator / Yard Person

Job Summary:

We are seeking a reliable and safety-focused Forklift/Yard Person to join our team at our lumber yard. The successful candidate will be responsible for safely operating forklifts, organizing and maintaining the yard, assisting production and customers. Ensuring efficient loading and unloading of materials. This role is essential to the smooth day-to-day operations of the yard and requires a strong work ethic and attention to detail.

Key Responsibilities:

Operate forklifts and other yard equipment safely and efficiently.

Load and unload lumber, panels, and building materials from trucks.

Organize and maintain the lumber yard, keeping it clean and accessible.

Pull and prepare customer orders for pickup or delivery.

Inspect incoming and outgoing materials for quality and accuracy.

Assist customers and drivers with loading as required.

Perform routine checks and basic maintenance on forklifts.

Follow all safety procedures and company policies.

Work both independently and as part of a team to ensure timely operations.

Qualifications:

Valid forklift operator certification (or willingness to obtain).

Previous experience working in a lumber yard or similar environment preferred.

Ability to lift heavy materials (up to 50 lbs) and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Good communication and customer service skills.

Basic math skills for measuring and material handling.

Dependable and punctual with a strong work ethic.

Work Environment:

Outdoor and indoor yard environment, subject to weather conditions.

Physical role with regular standing, lifting, bending, and equipment use.
