THE ROLE
We are seeking an Outreach Educator to join our team as soon as possible. If you are passionate about making science exciting and accessible for everyone, we'd love to meet you!
As an Outreach Educator, you'll be the face of Science East in classrooms and communities across New Brunswick. Your mission? To bring STEM to life through engaging workshops, live demonstrations and creative programs.
This role is based in Fredericton, with regular travel around the province as part of our outreach team. You'll get to visit schools, libraries, public events and community groups-all while sharing your enthusiasm for science in a way that sparks curiosity and encourages hands-on learning.
This is a full-time position (37.5 hours/week), Monday to Friday, with occasional evenings and weekends to support special events and outreach activities. The position is temporary and is for 6 months, with the possibility of extension.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Deliver fun, interactive science workshops and demonstrations for audiences of all ages;
- Plan and host STEM outreach activities in schools, libraries, and community spaces;
- Create new, engaging educational tools and activities that connect with learners;
- Inspire curiosity by answering questions and making science concepts easy to understand;
- Help evaluate and improve our programs by collecting data and sharing feedback; and
- Promote a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment for every participant.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor of Education, Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Applied Science or Bachelor of Technology degree.
- Demonstrated interest in STEM education as evidenced by other work experience or post-secondary studies.
- Bilingual in English & French (required).
- Experience in teaching, informal education or engaging community work.
- Programming/coding skills in Java, Python, Raspberry Pi, Scratch, Arduino or Game programming are considered assets.
- Confident with digital tools (Microsoft Office, Google Workspace).
- Experience presenting to diverse groups of children, educators and families.
- Willing and able to travel within New Brunswick (driver's license required).

WORK CONDITIONS
- Office-based work combined with travel across New Brunswick.
- Hands-on teaching in classrooms and busy public events.
- Ability to lift/carry up to 30 lbs
- Ability to stand for periods of up to 3 hours.
- Full-time schedule of 37.5 hours/week.
