The Office of Student Experience at Mount Saint Vincent University invites applications for the position of Manager, Health and Wellness.
Reporting to the Associate Vice President, Student Experience, the Manager, Health and Wellbeing will ensure we compassionately meet the health and wellness needs of an increasingly diverse student population. The Manager is responsible for the provision of student health services on campus, including overseeing health practitioners and the Electronic Medical Records used by the health office. They will supervise and coordinate the activities of support staff as well as act as liaison between the health practitioners, students and the university, navigating the needs of all and creating collaborative solutions to identified issues. The Manager develops standards and procedures for the safe operation of the clinic and is accountable for the equipment and records management and maintenance.
The Manager plays a lead role in case management for students with complex health, mental health, and/or social welfare issues. The Manager sits on various campus committees, provides education on health-related matters to students and attends events as required. The Manager oversees health and wellness related activities for faculty, staff and students, including serving as the lead for student sexual violence prevention and sexual health education. This position is responsible for developing policies and procedures for University health and wellbeing issues, and health office operations. This position will liaise with MSI, manage department budgets and billings, and ensure regulatory requirements are tracked and reported as required.
As a significant contributor to wellness at MSVU, the Manager will support educational opportunities and wellness initiatives across campus and work closely with other departments, including Counselling, Residence Life, and Athletics & Recreation.
The successful candidate will be a strategic leader with a Bachelor's degree in social work, public health, health administration, or a related field, with a minimum of 5 years of post-graduate experience in case management for complex needs, preferably in post-secondary or health care environments. Previous experience working in a post-secondary environment and with a diverse population is an asset. Candidates must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite and have experience using electronic medical records. Experience using business enterprise systems such as Colleague, PeopleSoft etc. is an asset. Candidates will be expected to have:
- The ability to analyze complex scenarios and respond calmly to crisis situations
- Experience working in settings requiring confidentiality, discretion and sensitivity to the many needs of clients
- Experience in the areas of mental health, sexual health and alcohol issues, with a trauma-informed approach
- Solid knowledge of all the best practices of professional organizations, laws and legislation related to health administration
- Effective critical thinking skills, analytical decision making, and experience with risk assessment and management
- Demonstrated initiative and organizational, interpersonal, mediation/conflict resolution and communication skills
- Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to advancing equity, diversity, inclusivity, and accessibility
Classification: Full-Time Permanent MPA Level 5 Position
Salary: $69,647 per annum
