Type of employment: 18-month temporary position

What you'll do

As a Training Specialist, you will evaluate the training needs for operational business, support the design of a new, engaging and blended learning experience, lead instructional design for both new and existing curriculums and develop a learning experience to meet the organization's online learning standards.

The Training Specialist works in close collaboration with the Quality Control Analysts, Business Analysts Technical Writers and Operational Specialists to ensure Quality training (curriculum is updated with the most recent operating procedures, business processes and product details).

Key responsibilities

  • Design training curriculum blueprints (high-level design) with a microlearning, online and instructor-led approach to learning with clear instructions for designers/developers.
  • Create storyboards to help organize and visualize the training content and provide a flow of topics to the overall curriculum.
  • Design and develop new and existing curriculums applying the microlearning and blended learning approach to learning.
  • Review and modify existing curriculums to fit a virtual training approach to learning by integrating technology and modern methodologies in traditional courses to transform from a lecture-centric approach to a learner-centric experience.
  • Design curriculums based upon appropriate learning instructional methods (eLearning, instructor-led, collaborative, blended) while applying instructional design theories, practices and methods.
  • Develop strategies for integrating learning solutions with digital learning methodologies ensuring a smooth blended approach that supports a learner-centric experience.
  • Design and develop e-learning using a combination of media, including text, graphics, animation, audio, video, and interactive content to maximize engagement.
  • Manage the timelines, scope and quality of deliverables.

Qualifications

Education: Post-Secondary degree in educational technology and curriculum

Experience: 3-5 years equivalent experience curriculum design and development

Solid understanding of insurance industry and/or knowledge of Medavie business processes would be considered a strong asset.

Knowledge and skills:

  • Able to organize, plan, prioritize, and monitor learning projects
  • Able to write effective instructional texts and audio/video scripts
  • Ability to communicate effectively in a professional and cordial manner through oral, written, and visual communications with others at all levels in the company.
  • Experience using LMS (Learning Management System)
  • Experience using E-Learning software such as Adobe Captivate is an asset.
  • Self-starter
  • Life- long learner: Claims and Administration systems, LMS, products, processes and the Learning industry's best practices...
  • Development proficiency with e-learning authoring software tools and assessments
  • Design proficiency with story boarding and blueprinting

Language: Bilingualism in both official languages is a requirement for this position
