Director of Finance

East Cumberland Lodge (ECL) is a licensed 74-bed long-term care facility overlooking Pugwash Harbour. We are seeking a Director of Finance (DOF) to join our leadership team and oversee all aspects of financial management for our non-profit, charitable organization. Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer, the DOF will:
Key Responsibilities:
• Manage full-cycle accounting: payroll (ADP), accounts payable/receivable, trust accounts, capital assets, and general ledger.
• Prepare and reconcile annual budgets; provide financial reporting to the CAO, Board, and Department of Health & Wellness.
• Lead audits, ensure compliance with charitable and regulatory requirements, and maintain strong internal controls.
• Support the administration of employee benefits, including NSHEPP pension and group benefits.
• Support collective agreement compliance in a unionized environment.
• Supervise finance staff and collaborate with leadership on strategic planning.
Qualifications:
• Post-secondary degree/diploma in accounting, finance, or business (CPA an asset).
• 3-5 years' experience in financial management, ideally in a non-profit/healthcare setting.
• Knowledge of charitable sector reporting, audits, and unionized workplaces.
• Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
