SENIOR POLICY ADVISOR

The Department of Health is seeking an individual to join the Policy and Legislation Branch as a Senior Policy Advisor, to support sound decision-making at the senior leadership level in the Department of Health and the Regional Health Authorities.
As a Senior Policy Advisor, you will:
- Lead research and policy analysis, develop policy options and prepare legislative and regulatory proposals according to established standards to support decision making by government;
- Develop Memoranda to the Executive Council;
- Prepare briefing materials and brief the Minister and senior management on policy issues and legislative proposals;
- Represent the Department on interdepartmental working groups;
- Organize consultations with the Department's stakeholders.
Who you are:
- You are an effective communicator, adept at presenting detailed factual and conceptual information on issues that require explanation and interpretation.
- You are adept at critical analysis and recognized for your sound judgement.
- You are recognized for your attention to detail, organization skills, and ability to prioritize deliverables.
- You have well-developed writing skills to prepare material where interpretation, analysis, assessment, creativity, knowledgeable use of terminology, and precise articulation of ideas or opinions, are necessary to communicate effectively.
- You are comfortable and effective working with executives, external stakeholders, clients and all levels of the organization.
Essential Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Law, Public or Business Administration, Health or Social Sciences, or a related field.
- Six (6) years of related experience.
- An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
- Written and spoken competence in English is required. Please state your language capability on your application.

In the event that this competition poses difficulties in recruiting a qualified candidate, a covering off appointment at a lower level may be made. In that case, candidates with less than the required related years of experience may also be considered.

Salary: $76,622 to $101,920 per annum (Pay Band 6)
