We have an exciting opportunity for a Municipal/Civil Engineer-in-Training to join our Charlottetown, PE office.

The successful candidate will be a motivated self-starter and will join our established municipal/civil engineering team of professionals to assist in the delivery of projects involving, but not limited to, water distribution, wastewater collection and pumping, stormwater management, roadways and residential/industrial/commercial site developments. Project phases will include master planning, concept design, detailed design, and services during construction such as resident observation, contract administration and commissioning. Project delivery will include data collection and review, data analysis and reporting, developing water, sewer and stormwater models including digital terrain models (DTM), preparation of reports and design drawings, among other tasks.

The person that we are looking for will enjoy working within a team environment with a highly capable group of established professionals working towards innovation and constant improvement of the services and products we deliver to our clients. Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the development of conceptual, preliminary and detailed designs and drawings for the full range of civil/municipal infrastructure including water distribution, sanitary sewer collection systems, pump stations, stormwater management, roadway systems, etc.
  • Provide resident services on construction sites with the support of senior team members;
  • Perform Site inspections and reviews;
  • Carry out data collection activities including topographic survey and infrastructure investigations;
  • Support the day-to-day activities of projects from inception through engineering, construction and contract administration; and
  • Prepare technical reports and cost estimates.

Your Capabilities and Credentials:

  • Have earned a Degree in Civil Engineering and be registered or have the ability to register as a Member-in-Training with Engineers PEI;
  • 0-4 years of experience;
  • Have an interest in municipal and civil site development construction projects;
  • Experience with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, InfraWorks, SketchUp and ArcMap would be an asset;
  • Have excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Possess strong interpersonal, organization and time management skills;
  • Have the ability to work in a deadline-oriented environment;
  • Hold a valid driver's license, have reliable transportation, and willingness to travel to job sites.
