SCHEDULE: Day, 8 and 12-hour shifts. Work schedule may be changed to meet operational needs.

JOB SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Manager, the incumbent will provide assistance in all administrative activities related to the various sectors of laboratory services. Given the broad scope of autonomy in this role, the incumbent will be expected to exercise sound judgment and take appropriate action to ensure the smooth operation of the sectors.

To support the manager in their daily activities, the incumbent will be based at the zone's regional facility.

In conjunction with the manager or director, the incumbent will ensure the quality of services provided to patients in compliance with laws, regulations, standards of practice and excellence, while respecting Vitalité Health Network policies and procedures. In addition, they will plan the activities necessary to meet the priority objectives of Vitalité Health Network's strategic plan and projects related to the optimization of laboratory services. In this role, the incumbent will be responsible for budget management; acquiring products, equipment, and supplies; human resources management; various projects; risk management; and implementing the quality program (in collaboration with the regional quality team).

Regular trips to community facilities will also be necessary to address various needs.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Hold a diploma from a recognized school of medical laboratory technology or a Bachelor of Science in Medical Laboratory Science (BsMLS), or a degree in another discipline related to health administration;
  • Any other combination of relevant training and experience deemed equivalent;
  • Minimum of three years' relevant experience supervising or managing staff, with a strong aptitude for coaching;
  • Minimum of five years' experience in the health care field;
  • Strong management skills, including planning, program development and evaluation, conflict resolution, human, financial and material resources management, and problem-solving and analysis;
  • Ability to use evidence-based data in decision-making;
  • Ability to form productive partnerships, recognize collaborators and motivate teams;
  • Commitment, adaptability, and positive approach to change management;
  • Strong sense of responsibility and ability to delegate duties and responsibilities;
  • Ability to manage time effectively and prioritize assigned tasks;
  • Excellent coaching skills;
  • Participatory leadership style that focuses on clients and outcomes and inspires commitment, respect, compassion and equity;
  • Interpersonal skills that foster a welcoming climate, client care and effective communication;
  • Good knowledge of computer tools and office software and ability to use them (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, Internet);
  • Knowledge of and compliance with the policies and procedures of laboratory services and Vitalité Health Network;
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
  • Physical ability to perform assigned work;
  • Good work history (performance and attendance);
  • Adherence to professional ethics principles, Vitalité Health Network's management philosophy and organizational values;
  • Adherence to Vitalité Health Network's confidentiality rules.
