Basic Purpose of Position
Manage emergency preparedness and safety training with an emphasis on maintaining safety competence, influencing safety culture and achieving high levels of compliance and readiness to respond to all levels of incidents and accidents. Responsible for maintaining a proactive approach to emergency management, ensuring legal compliance and good corporate stewardship.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain corporate emergency response procedures to emergency events as required by the CAR's (Canadian Aviation Regulations).
- Maintain Corporate Emergency Response Manual, Station Emergency Response Manual.
- Manage Corporate Emergency Event Notification systems and vendors.
- Ensure reliability and accuracy of notification systems.
- Ensure compliance with government regulations.
- Audit Station Emergency Response Plans to ensure compliance.
- Work with Corporate Safety Trainer to ensure training is conducted at all stations (Initial and recurrent).
- Liaise with external entities for planning and during an emergency.
- During an emergency event function as Process Manager.
- Provide strategic direction and coordination for Jazz safety training initiatives, including the development and maintenance of an annual training plan and ongoing SMS training.
- Ensure adequate structuring and delivery of emergency preparedness-related training (ERC, Station, SOCC, Field Team, etc.)
- Work with Operational Department Managers to ensure Transport Canada Requirements and key Customer needs are met for all safety training needs and that safety training synchronizes well with other training activities.
- Participate in Project Teams as required, when training will be needed.
- Participate in Safety Training Council.
- Approve and manage staff requests and expenditures.
Qualifications:
- Excellent written, organizational, and oral communication skills.
- Previous experience working for an airline or airport preferred.
- Post secondary education required.
- Experience in field of emergency management (planning and response) is an asset.
- Experience with Business Continuity is an asset.
- Familiar with large documents (i.e. regulatory and non-regulatory manuals).
- Public speaking experience.
- Strong working knowledge of PC's as well as skills in Microsoft Office Suite - i.e. Word, Access, Outlook, Internet, Adobe Acrobat Writer, Teams, SharePoint.
