Michelin North America (Canada) Inc. is proud to celebrate 54 years of manufacturing excellence in Nova Scotia, employing more than 3600 individuals across our three facilities. We are currently seeking an IT Technician to join our team in Bridgewater, NS.

Job Description Summary

Maintain and supervise operations of the technological infrastructure and equipment of the site, participate in implementations or evolutions of infrastructure, hardware and software applications of the site. Contribute to the maintenance of the site's applications in accordance with the maintenance / operation contract.

Job Responsibilities

  • Maintains and optimizes existing technological infrastructure and methodologies adhering to Michelin standards and established best practices.
  • Installation of hardware and software.
  • Support other departments in the technological needs as necessary.
  • Supervision of contractors and other 3rd parties.
  • Preventative maintenance, documentation and record keeping.
  • Work with staff and Vendors to purchase IT equipment as required.
  • Deployment of Virtual Machines and their backup sets.
  • Upgrades, patching and testing.
  • Training staff on new technologies and methodologies.
  • Participate in the development and deployment of IT projects.

Work Hours

This plant is a 24/7 production facility and sometimes work outside of regular hours will be required. Flexible start and finishing times.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Post secondary formal training in IT and or 5 years experience working in the IT industry under the capacity of Network Administrator, Systems Administrator or similar.
  • Exposure to scripting such as PowerShell an asset.
  • Exposure to Telecommunications and other Internet Technologies.
  • Experience working with PLC's an asset.
  • Experience in working with non Windows servers such as Linux an asset.
  • Must have in depth knowledge of the TCP/IP protocol suite, security architecture, securing and hardening Operating Systems, networks, databases and applications.
  • Experience with M365 product suits.
  • Experience with Microsoft Servers and Operating Systems.
  • Experience with VMware and or other enterprise level Hyper Visors in conjunction with backup utility software such as Veeam.
  • Strong ability to troubleshoot and assist staff and stakeholders in a professional setting.

KEY EXPECTED ACHIEVEMENTS
• Service level and users satisfaction comply to expectations (availability of applications, equipment and services)
• Performance and conformity of IT equipment are managed
• Effectiveness of all interventions (diagnostic quality, temporary services offered, respect of intervention timeline, ...)
• Efficiency of all interventions (resources used, cost of IT services, appropriate use of hotlines and support)
• Technical and operational documentation are conform and updated (lists of equipment and software, source files, backups, training material ...)
• The maintenance plan of equipment is defined and applied
