The Labour Relations Coordinator supports Paladin Security's labour relations activities in both Ontario & the Atlantic region by assisting in the administration and interpretation of collective agreements, coordinating grievance and arbitration processes, and fostering positive working relationships between management, employees, and union representatives. This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage sensitive information with confidentiality and professionalism. This role may be located out of either our Etobicoke Ontario Office or our Halifax Office.

  • Ability to build and maintain lasting relationships with other departments, key business partners, and other stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage and respond to a high volume of general employee and labour relations email inquiries from internal stakeholders.
  • Effective time management skills and strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent inter-personal communication, organizational skills, demonstrated ability to multitask, analyze and problem solve.
  • Motivated, energetic, customer service oriented, cross culturally sensitive, positive attitude and works well in a team-oriented environment is critical.
  • Proficiency with note taking related to sensitive employee meetings including grievance meeting and investigation support.
  • Creating grievance files, gather and maintain required information with a focus on completeness and accuracy.
  • Communicate with the union locals in a diplomatic and professional manner as required from time to time.
  • Support managers and employees in their roles and responsibilities to comply with company policies and legislations governing: Health and Safety, Workplace Accidents, Human Rights Discrimination and Attendance management.
  • Track grievances, investigations and other metrics as required.
  • With leadership support, communicate patterns and trends to inform Eastern Region Labour Relations Key Performance Indicators.
  • Maintain a high level of confidentiality pertaining to all HR-related matters.
  • Conduct regular audit and compliance reports in accordance with Collective Agreement and Provincial Employment Standards and Regulations.
  • Maintain and enhance internal Labour Relations SharePoint sites.
  • Provides coordination and support for Labour Relations workshops and development sessions.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Completion of a post-secondary diploma or university degree in a related field such as labour relations, social sciences, business administration or a recognized equivalent of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated familiarity provincial employment standards to ensure legislative compliance, policy and procedure compliance and collective agreement requirements.
  • Legally authorized to work in Canada.
