What you will do

Reporting to the Assistant Director of Capital Planning, the successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • providing leadership, guidance, and support to employees, while ensuring effective teamwork and performance;
  • developing multi-year capital programs for provincial highways, aligning with budget forecasts and infrastructure priorities;
  • contributing to asset management strategies across a variety of departmental infrastructure assets;
  • performing Asset Management Analysis to make recommendations, identify needs, and potential business impacts;
  • managing and maintaining various data sources integral to the Department's Asset Management systems;
  • providing technical expertise related to asset management and making asset management recommendations to Senior Management.

Work environment:

  • Office location: 440 King Street, Fredericton.
  • Open office layout.
  • Standard hours of work: Monday – Friday.

  • Some travel within the province will be required.

Essential Qualifications:

Engineer 3:

  • University degree in Engineering.
  • Minimum of eight (8) years of related experience including three (3) years of supervisory experience.
  • Registered as a Professional Engineer with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of New Brunswick.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license as issued by the Province of New Brunswick.

If there are no applicants with the above essential qualifications, we may consider applicants with the following qualifications and appoint at a lower classification.

Engineer 2:

  • University degree in Engineering.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of related experience including one (1) year of supervisory experience.
  • Registered as a Professional Engineer with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of New Brunswick.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license as issued by the Province of New Brunswick.

An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.

Written and spoken competence in English is required. Please state your language capability.

Asset Qualifications:

Preference may be given to candidates that demonstrate the following assets:

  • knowledge of principles and theories associated with asset management, maintenance and investment analysis in support of long-term capital planning;
  • knowledge of highway and structural engineering and practices related to planning, rehabilitation and maintenance.

Subject to the response to this competition, candidates may be required to demonstrate on their application one or more of the asset qualifications in addition to the essential qualifications in order to be given further consideration.

SALARY:

Engineer 3: $2,904.87 to $3,976.01 bi-weekly, based on 36.25 hours per week.

Engineer 2: $2,718.60 to $3,632.27 bi-weekly, based on 36.25 hours per week.
