Salary range: $68,917.73 - $91,624.25 annually

The salary scale for Professional Support 3 is based on steps that range from $68,917.73 - $91,624.25. New Professional Support may receive up to a maximum of seven steps for relevant occupational experience which is $80,254.49 annually.

Responsibilities

What you will be doing…

As a Student Services Advisor, reporting to the Manager, Student Services, you will be helping students make decisions, solve problems, and meet goals that maximize their college experience. You will:

  • Work to engage and support a caseload of students - including prospective, transitioning-in, current, and transitioning-out students.
  • Participate in events, activities, and interactions that support student growth and engagement.
  • Assist students with program selection and information on the application process.
  • Help students learn and make informed decisions regarding college policies and procedures.
  • Assist students in planning how to meet financial commitments of college and navigating the bursary and scholarship opportunities.
  • Meet with students to respond to questions or to provide supports to students facing challenges and make referrals to relevant community services when appropriate.
  • Refer students to internal learning disability, and counselling supports.

You will be a member of campus and provincial Student Services and Advising teams, which provide a continuum of integrated services and opportunities to students. You will initiate and build partnerships with Academic Chairs and faculty in order to cooperatively provide services tailored to the unique needs and opportunities of students and programs.

Qualifications

Qualifications and Occupational Experience:

  • The minimum educational qualification for this position is an undergraduate degree.
  • You have a minimum of three years (full time equivalent) of recent and relevant occupational experience in student services or supporting adults in personal, academic, and/or career development.
  • You are familiar with and comfortable using computer applications such as the Microsoft Office Suite, E-mail, and Peoplesoft.
  • You are comfortable working in a digital environment; you take responsibility for acquiring knowledge about advancing technology; and you are committed to using technology to create an exceptional student experience
  • You have experience in training/facilitation preparation, delivery and evaluation.
  • You have experience supporting/providing service to students and prospective students

  • You possess excellent interpersonal skills that enable you to interact with a diversity of people and support resolution of issues
