Meridia Recruitment Solutions is pleased to partner with Nautel in the search for a Supply Chain Manager to join their team in Hackett's Cove, Nova Scotia.
Role Description
As the Manager of Supply Chain, you will lead the strategic direction of all supply chain functions, optimizing processes and procedures, and creating new ones, to achieve greater efficiency and effectiveness. You will lead and develop a small, talented team that conducts activities such as procurement, shipping, receiving, logistics and inventory management. Managing vendor and contract manufacturer relationships will be an important part of this role, as will establishing contractual agreements and negotiating preferred terms and conditions.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing strategic direction & practical interventions with regard to purchasing strategy, vendor relationships, vendor supplies.
- Taking a proactive approach with regard to vendor relationships, negotiating preferred rates and supplier agreements.
- Managing quotation process, checking bids, and awarding contracts.
- Working with internal departments to identify alternate vendors, parts and requirements.
- Working with Engineering during the design phase to understand purchasing requirements and to provide guidance on Design for Manufacturing.
- Working with Sales to understand third party, client-specific vendor item requirements.
- Working with Customer Service where there is a requirement to source parts no longer in stock.
- Managing and ensuring adequate inventory levels.
- Managing accuracy of physical inventory and inventory transactions in Syspro.
- Supervising purchasing, receiving, stores, warehouse, and logistics team.
- Computing duty drawback amounts and submits bi-yearly claims.
Your Qualifications
With extensive experience in supply chain or procurement, you have shown an ability to build and manage relationships with contract manufacturers, suppliers, and other external stakeholders to ensure your organization is well positioned to receive material and service in today's market. You have strong negotiation skills and have been able to consistently implement contracts that achieve favourable price points and business terms. As a manager of people, you enjoy developing your staff and can point to the previous team members who have been positively impacted by your mentorship. In addition, you have a continuous improvement mindset and look for opportunities to ask 'how can we do this better?'
Your qualifications include:
- Supply chain or procurement experience in a management role.
- Post-secondary education in supply chain, purchasing, or a related field is preferred.
- Ability to lead and develop a team as well as work independently.
- Effective communication skills, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to work with multiple priorities and tight deadlines.
- Continuous improvement mindset with a willingness to embrace change.
- Operates with safety as a top priority.
