Job Summary
This position reports to the Provincial Director of Professional Practice - Allied Health. The Provincial Professional Practice Consultant ? Social Work is a member of a dynamic team of Provincial Practice Consultants for Allied Health including Dietitians, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Speech Language Pathology, Respiratory Therapy, Pharmacy and Psychology.
The Provincial Professional Practice Consultant ? Social Work is responsible for the professional integrity of the social work discipline throughout NLHS. This position is an expert for the social work discipline and is accountable for monitoring professional practice and staff competencies for assigned program areas, as well plays a pivotal role providing direction to all levels of the organization in all matters pertaining to the practice of social work. The position works collaboratively with the professional regulator, educational institutions and other key stakeholders external to the Health Authority to address issues impacting social work professional practice. This position also ensures appropriate structures are in place to support licensed/registered/graduate social workers and social assistance workers in their practice.
This position is responsible for the development, maintenance and evaluation of systems and structures that support and monitor professional practice through a Professional Practice Model, including participating in the development of an overall strategic plan for social work across the 5 zones of NL Health Services and in-line with the strategic directions of NLHS. The Provincial Professional Practice Consultant ? Social Work develops and fosters collaborative relationships with assigned programs/departments to ensure client-centered care and best practices. This position works closely with social work staff and managers in areas such as accountability, workload, clinical documentation, research, resource allocation, outcome measures, advanced practice and scopes of practice. Leadership and expertise are provided to councils, committees, interdisciplinary projects and working groups.
Job Qualifications
EducationGraduation with a Clinical or Integrated Master?s degree in Social Work from an accredited program is required.
Current and continuing registration with the Newfoundland and Labrador College of Social Workers (NLCSW).
ExperienceA minimum of five (5) years of progressive clinical and professional leadership experience in Social Work is required.
Previous Management experience is asset.
