Reporting to the President and Vice-Chancellor and as a member of the Senior Leadership Team, the Vice-President (Advancement and Alumni Relations) provides strategic direction and operational leadership for all aspects of advancement encompassing fundraising and alumni relations. With a record of achievement in new and traditional fundraising programs including major gifts, capital and annual campaigns, and planned giving, the Vice-President will bring an innovative approach to advancement initiatives that will align with the goals of the Strategic Plan 2025-30. These priorities are to: (1) plan and a launch a major fundraising campaign, (2) improve alumni engagement and communication effectiveness, (3) enhance the operational capacity of the Office of Advancement and Alumni Relations, and (4) improve reporting and accountability processes.

Responsibilities

The Vice-President (Advancement and Alumni Relations) will lead and manage a team responsible for all advancement and alumni engagement activities including the analysis, planning, execution and evaluation of annual giving, planned giving, and campaign and major gift fundraising programs. This includes accountability for on-going programs and identification of new fundraising opportunities, as well as the utilization of metrics to analyze execution and success thereby ensuring that fundraising targets are achieved. Working collaboratively with other members of the University community, the role is responsible to design and implement initiatives that engage internal and external communities in the advancement of the University.

Qualifications

The position requires a university degree with a minimum of 15 years of progressive experience in the fundraising and/or development sector. Experience working at a senior level, success in fundraising programs, and an understanding of fundraising in the post-secondary education sector are required, along with an understanding of the Maritime Canada fundraising environment. A demonstrated capacity to deal effectively with donors and prospective benefactors, and a proven track record in capital campaign design, managing an expanding base of support, and successful achievement of fundraising goals are key qualifications.
